Pastoral care and wellbeing

At BSW, every child is cared for, supported and encouraged to be their best. Our pastoral care places students at the centre of a caring and inclusive environment where they feel safe to be themselves and confident to explore.

Strong, trusting relationships between staff and students create a sense of belonging and emotional security. From daily interactions to structured wellbeing initiatives, our approach supports the moral, social, intellectual and emotional development of each student. With individual attention and a culture of kindness, students are empowered to grow into resilient, compassionate learners, proud of who they are and the community they’re part of.

Encouraging positive behaviour

Encouraging positive behaviour

Students at BSW make behaviour choices and engage in respectful dialogues, questioning rather than following blindly. They can challenge decisions and understand that even teachers make mistakes. Positive behaviour is fostered through praise, feedback and learning from mistakes. Your child will thrive in a happy, safe and respectful environment.

Nurturing self-esteem

Nurturing self-esteem

Learners are inspired to think positively about themselves and embrace their uniqueness. They feel valued and important through recognition of their positive contributions to the school and wider community. Children actively participate in assemblies, and from the age of 8 years old, the School House system helps them develop leadership and representation skills, offering increased responsibility.

Building resilience

Building resilience

Students develop resilience through our "courage to fail" philosophy, embracing challenges and learning from failures. They engage in confident, sensible risk-taking, reviewing outcomes and making informed decisions. These concepts are reinforced through circle times, feedback, assemblies and House Learning sessions.

Special educational needs

Special educational needs

At BSW, children with special educational needs are supported through personalised plans, in-class help and specialist care. With guidance from expert staff and a strong pastoral network, every child feels included, understood and empowered to thrive both in learning and in life.

Healthy eating policy

Healthy eating policy

At BSW, students enjoy nutritious, balanced meals prepared daily in our in-house kitchen. Our commitment to healthy eating supports their physical well-being and fuels their focus, energy and growth, helping them feel their best and thrive every day in and out of the classroom.
