What is Forest School at BSW?

Forest School is a child-centred approach to learning that provides pupils with regular opportunities to explore, discover, and grow through hands-on experiences in a natural environment.

Through play, exploration, and carefully supported risk-taking, children develop confidence, resilience, and self-esteem while nurturing their curiosity and creativity. The programme encourages pupils to learn independently, develop life competencies, and build a meaningful connection with the natural world.

At BSW, Forest School plays an important role in promoting the intellectual, spiritual, moral, cultural, social, and physical development of every child. We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom and recognise the strong connection between academic achievement, co-curricular activities, wellbeing.

During outdoor sessions with Mr Markiewicz, pupils are encouraged to engage in self-discovery, strengthen their communication and teamwork skills, develop greater awareness of others, and gain a deeper appreciation of the outdoors.

These experiences help foster the qualities of engaged and lifelong learners!
